Most people can run but not many people can run well!
As a running coach I am continually teaching people to run in ways that do not cause them physical pain and in ways that make running enjoyable. Running (if done well) is enjoyable and relaxing. If it is not all of these things for you, then, you are probably not doing it correctly. How many people have stopped running because it hurt? When in reality a large proportion of these people just needed the biomechanics of their running tweaked or a pair of new/different trainers.
Running is a skill that needs to be learned.
The biggest problems that people face tend to be associated with breathing, biomechanics and trainers.
Runners need 'running trainers' - there is no substitute. http://www.53-12.com/ Wearing the right trainers can be the answer to sore/aching joints or sore feet and is definitely the key to protecting joints. You can buy these from specialist sports shops who will fit you for a pair that are specifically suited for you.
It can take a few weeks just to understand how to breath properly to make running easier and yet again - a while to correct your running biomechanics.
It sounds daunting but in fact it all fits together easily - just like the pieces to a jig-saw. And like riding a bike = once you have mastered it = it is easy! Learn to run http://funwithfitness.net/
Learning to run/jog can be a life changing experience! Once you have mastered it you will not want to stop!
